"I remember looking for and talking to so many potential caregivers for my dad. Found some good ones and some not so good. During a time when I was searching, I invited Geraldene to come over and meet us. There were three of us prepared to meet her. The one thing I remember so vividly was, she came into the room, greeted me and the other lady, and then immediately walked straight to my dad, greeted him and started a conversation...her focus was on him, not me...the other interviews focused on me. She took his hand, talked, laughed and just had a good time meeting him....he reciprocated with laughter and smiles. I knew immediately she would be a great part of his life.....and she was. Eventually she ended up taking over so much of the household duties, monitoring the other caregivers’ hours, helped me with all hiring when needed and keeping track of all wages paid, and taking my dad and I to Costco for shopping and tasting the samples (a fun time for him). When visiting nurses came to see my dad, it was important to Geraldene that she always be there. She would ask questions and learn the why and how of the situation that day. The nurses would show her how to do different things, and she would make sure she knew how before the nurses left. It was so refreshing to give that part of the situation to someone so competent and honorable. I never once challenged her honesty, kindness, thoughtfulness and intelligence. Both Geraldene and Doug are amazing people who take their responsibilities seriously. I highly recommend Ubuntu Elder Home Care and their staff who cared for my father for five years until his passing, they ensured he lived with dignity and pride. As a World War II Veteran he was proud of his service and their staff escorted him to many Veteran functions" - Judy
